In 2008, College of Resources and Environment was established based on the amalgamation of corresponding department, research institution, office and centers from the original Department of Meteorology.

College of Resources and Environment now consists of 5 departments (Department of Environmental Science, Department of Environmental Technology, Department of Geographical Information Science, Department of Remote Sensing Science and Technology and Department of Surveying and Mapping) .

 3 parallel research institutes (Air Environmental Modeling and Pollution Controlling Key Laboratory of Sichuan Higher Education Institute, Institute of water pollution control and waste recycling, Institute of Environment and Meteorological 3S Technology).

Since 2012, College of Resources and Environment have undertaken more than 120 projects and published about 380 academic papers.
