In 2008, College of Resources and Environment was established based on the amalgamation of corresponding department, research institution, office and centers from the original Department of Meteorology.

College of Resources and Environment now consists of 5 departments (Department of Environmental Science, Department of Environmental Technology, Department of Geographical Information Science, Department of Remote Sensing Science and Technology and Department of Surveying and Mapping) .

There are many research institutes,like Air Environmental Modeling and Pollution Controlling Key Laboratory of Sichuan Higher Education Institute established in 2010.
