I. Introduction to the Field
The Master's degree in Resources and Environment is a comprehensive interdisciplinary field developed based on natural science, engineering science, and social science. Based on the characteristics of our college's discipline development, team building, and scientific research, two major areas have been formed: Environmental Engineering and Surveying and Mapping Engineering. The field of Environmental Engineering covers research areas such as environmental pollution control, soil pollution and ecological restoration, environmental functional materials and applications, environmental biotechnology, and solid waste treatment and resource utilization.
Our university obtained the authorization to grant Master's degrees in Environmental Science in 2003; in 2010, it obtained the authorization to grant Master's degrees in the first-level discipline of Environmental Science and Engineering, and in 2011, it obtained the authorization to grant Master's degrees in Engineering (Environmental Engineering field). In 2018, the admission catalog was adjusted to authorize Master's degrees in Resources and Environment. Currently, there are 57 faculty members, including 14 professors and 19 associate professors; 51 faculty members hold doctoral degrees, and 14 have overseas experience; there is 1 National Model Teacher, 1 member of the Teaching Guidance Committee for Environmental Engineering of the Ministry of Education, 1 talent selected for the "Thousand Talents Plan" in Sichuan Province, 8 candidates for the Academic and Technical Leaders in Sichuan Province, 1 "Three Education" Model, and 5 excellent young teachers with "One Specialty and Multiple Skills" in Chengdu. More than 30 faculty members hold professional qualification certificates (such as Environmental Impact Assessment Engineer, Clean Production Auditor, Safety Assessment Engineer, Environmental Supervision and Cost Engineer, etc.). The discipline currently has 1 key laboratory at the provincial university level, 2 provincial research platforms, and is equipped with over 1,100 sets of research equipment worth nearly 30 million yuan.
The field of Environmental Engineering focuses on issues such as environmental pollution control, soil pollution and ecological restoration, environmental functional materials and applications, environmental biotechnology, and solid waste treatment and resource utilization, cultivating advanced engineering talents with good scientific research qualities who can promote the research and development, and application of environmental governance technologies, as well as the design and implementation of environmental governance projects. It will further conduct scientific research around seven research directions: atmospheric environment and pollution control, water pollution treatment and watershed restoration, soil remediation and waste resource utilization, environmental planning and management, environmental monitoring and evaluation, environmental catalysis technology, and carbon neutrality technology, forming an engineering discipline with atmospheric environmental protection as its characteristic.
II. Training Objectives
In line with the needs of industry development and closely aligned with the standards of industry professional qualification requirements, our program aims to cultivate excellent senior engineering talents with a solid theoretical foundation, broad professional knowledge, and the ability to independently engage in pollution control technology development, applied research and promotion, engineering design and implementation, technological transformation and problem-solving, environmental planning and management, environmental monitoring and evaluation, and other related work in the field of environmental engineering. The core focus is on enhancing comprehensive quality and knowledge application abilities, while orienting towards the ability to solve practical engineering problems. Our goal is to foster individuals who possess lifelong learning abilities, innovation capabilities, teamwork skills, and a broad international perspective.
