I. Field Overview
The field of resource utilization and plant protection encompasses two directions: agricultural resources and environment, and plant protection. It covers various aspects such as efficient utilization of agricultural resources, soil improvement and fertilization, fertilizer processing and application, quality and safety control of agricultural products, agricultural environmental monitoring, evaluation, and pollution treatment, agricultural resources, environment, and information technology, land resource management, plant pests and their control, invasive alien species and their prevention and control, classification of plant pests, innovative application and ecological safety of pesticides and fertilizers, detection and analysis of pesticide resistance and residues, research and development of modern plant protection and fertilization equipment, plant inspection and quarantine, promotion of plant protection technologies, and innovation in management systems. Related directions to this field include meteorological disaster prevention and mitigation, meteorological resource utilization and social development, as well as public meteorology and services.
The college has been cultivating master's degree students in agricultural sciences since 2011. Currently, the college boasts a fixed research staff of 83, including 25 professors, 22 associate professors, and 36 lecturers. Among them, 85% hold doctoral degrees, and 70% have overseas experience. Within our faculty, there are 3 experts enjoying government allowances from the State Council, 4 academic and technical leaders in Sichuan Province, 5 candidates for academic and technical leaders in Sichuan Province, 1 outstanding young academic leader in Sichuan Province, 4 distinguished experts with outstanding contributions in Sichuan Province, and 1 renowned teacher in Sichuan Province.
The field of resource utilization and plant protection is positioned based on current agricultural and ecological conservation needs, combined with the research backgrounds of our faculty members. It integrates our advantages in climate change, meteorological disaster prevention and mitigation, public meteorology and services, and meteorological resource utilization with agricultural meteorological development and ecological civilization construction. The goal is to cultivate applied and compound high-level talents related to agricultural resource utilization for agricultural technology research, application, development, and promotion, as well as for rural development, agricultural education, and other enterprises, institutions, and administrative departments.
II. Training Objectives
The Master's degree in Agricultural Sciences, specialized in resource utilization and plant protection, is a professional degree linked to qualifications in this field. It aims to cultivate individuals who possess a solid theoretical foundation and extensive professional knowledge in areas such as agricultural meteorological disaster prevention and mitigation, climate resources and social development, climate and climate change, public meteorological services, soil fertilizers, plant protection, and agricultural ecological environment governance. These individuals should have strong problem-solving abilities and be capable of engaging in agricultural meteorological research, guiding production with rich agricultural meteorological theories, reducing losses from agricultural meteorological disasters, and addressing global climate change to ensure agricultural production. The program is designed to cultivate applied and compound high-level talents related to resource utilization and plant protection for agricultural technology research, application, development, and promotion, as well as for rural development, agricultural education, and other enterprises, institutions, and administrative departments.
