Major Advantages and Characteristics: Environmental Science is a key discipline (nurturing) in Sichuan Province and a national first-class undergraduate major construction site. Based on the concept of sustainable development, this major focuses on cultivating applied senior talents with good professional ethics and social responsibility, systematic basic and professional knowledge of environmental science, strong abilities in environmental monitoring, environmental assessment, environmental planning, environmental management, environmental consulting, and ecological environmental protection. These talents are capable of engaging in research, development, consulting, teaching, and management in government, enterprises, education, scientific research, and other industries and fields. This major has certain characteristics in monitoring and evaluation based on remote sensing technology of the atmospheric environment and planning and management based on environmental information technology.
II. Training Objectives
This major aims to cultivate applied senior talents who have good moral character, humanistic qualities, social responsibility, a healthy physique, patriotism, and team spirit; adhere to ideals and beliefs and the concept of sustainable development; master the basic theories and professional knowledge of environmental science; possess strong innovative consciousness and engineering practice abilities; and have the ability to comprehensively use professional knowledge to solve complex environmental problems. These talents should be able to engage in scientific research, technological development, environmental consulting, environmental education, environmental management, and other aspects in the fields of ecological environmental protection and environmental pollution prevention and control. Within five years after graduation, they should be able to independently engage in planning and management, monitoring and evaluation, environmental consulting, research and development, scientific experiments, ecological environment restoration, and pollution prevention and control in government, enterprises, education, scientific research, and other industries and fields, meeting the requirements of professional qualifications such as Registered Environmental Engineer, Registered Environmental Impact Assessment Engineer, and Clean Production Auditor, and become the backbone or senior management personnel of their units. In society and professional fields, the following objectives should be achieved:
Training Objective 1 - Basic Knowledge:Possess a solid foundation in natural science knowledge such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, and geography, master the basic knowledge of environmental science and related fields, and be able to use professional knowledge to analyze and solve complex environmental problems in practical work.
Training Objective 2 - Professional Skills:Have the ability to engage in scientific research, technological development, service consulting, teaching, and decision-making management in environmental monitoring, environmental assessment, environmental planning and management, ecological environmental protection and pollution prevention and control.
Training Objective 3 - Social Abilities:Have a healthy body and mind, possess teamwork spirit, strong communication, expression, and management abilities, have an international perspective, innovative consciousness, and the concept of sustainable development, and be able to continuously improve their abilities through various channels to become the backbone of their positions.
Training Objective 4 - Professional Ethics:Have firm ideals and beliefs, good patriotism, professional ethics, and correct social values, be able to abide by professional ethics and laws and regulations, and demonstrate high professional ethics and social responsibility in their work.
III. Graduation Requirements
Professional Norms:Have firm ideals and beliefs, good patriotism, humanities and social science literacy, and social responsibility, and be able to abide by professional ethics and fulfill job responsibilities in practical work related to ecological environment.
Engineering Knowledge: Possess necessary basic knowledge in mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, economics, and management, as well as professional knowledge in environmental science and related engineering disciplines, and be able to effectively solve complex environmental problems using basic and professional knowledge.
Problem Analysis:Be able to identify, communicate, and analyze complex environmental problems based on the principles and technologies of environmental science and related disciplines, as well as literature research, to obtain effective conclusions.
Engineering and Society:Have the ability to solve complex environmental problems using the knowledge and theories of environmental science and related engineering disciplines, reasonably understand the potential impact of solutions on society, health, safety, law, and culture, and understand the responsibilities that should be undertaken.
Scientific Research:Be able to design and implement experiments in environmental science and related disciplines based on scientific principles, and be able to consult literature, scientifically and reasonably analyze experimental data, and obtain effective conclusions.
Design/Develop Solutions:Have an innovative consciousness, be able to comprehensively consider social, economic, and other factors, and use the theories and technological means of environmental science and related disciplines to design processes and systems.
Use Modern Tools:Master methods for literature retrieval and information search, be able to efficiently obtain relevant information using modern information technology, and be able to use professional basic software such as CAD to solve practical problems.
