Since the Sichuan Provincial Department of Education approved the establishment of the Sichuan Provincial Key Laboratory of Atmospheric Environment Simulation and Pollution Control, relying on Chengdu University of Information Technology, in November 2010, the laboratory has gradually developed and established itself based on multiple disciplines such as atmospheric science, environmental science, and engineering. This development is rooted in its traditional, sustained, and stable research directions, accumulated research achievements, academic influence, and status both domestically and internationally, combined with its existing research team, research conditions, research projects, and scientific research results.
The laboratory is equipped with sample pretreatment and analytical testing equipment such as the XRF-1800 X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometer, GCMS-QP2010plus Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry, GC-2010 Gas Chromatograph, 1200 High-Performance Liquid Chromatograph, 761 Ion Chromatograph, 1405F Atmospheric Particle Sampler, and LCMS-MS (1290-6465B) High-Performance Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry, as well as sampling and automatic monitoring equipment worth over 1 million yuan. These instruments can analyze major or trace components in particulate matter, acid rain, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and greenhouse gases in the atmospheric environment.
In the past five years, the "Atmospheric Environment Simulation and Pollution Control" laboratory has undertaken nearly 600 vertical and various horizontal projects in fields such as new methods for atmospheric environmental monitoring, atmospheric environment simulation and evaluation, flue gas desulfurization, denitrification, mercury removal, and treatment and prevention of volatile organic compounds. These projects have been funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, national public welfare industry (environmental protection) research special projects, the Sichuan Provincial Science and Technology Department, the Sichuan Provincial Department of Education, and others, with a total funding of nearly 80 million yuan. The laboratory has hosted multiple horizontal projects for institutions such as the Chengdu Institute of Plateau Meteorology and the Sichuan Fire Research Institute of the Ministry of Public Security. It has won one provincial and ministerial second-prize for scientific and technological progress and one third-prize. The research results have been published in nearly 700 papers in various domestic and international academic journals such as "Atmospheric Research," "Environmental Science," "Chinese Journal of Environmental Science," "Chin Chem Lett," "Chem. Lett.," and "Science in China," with over 300 papers indexed by SCI, EI, and ISTP. The laboratory has also received more than 10 provincial and municipal scientific research awards.
The laboratory has collaborated with provincial and municipal meteorological bureaus, environmental protection bureaus, environmental protection scientific research institutes, the Tibet Autonomous Region Meteorological Bureau, the Chengdu Institute of Plateau Meteorology of the China Meteorological Administration, the Southwest Research & Design Institute of Chemical Industry, the South China Institute of Environmental Sciences of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the Sichuan Fire Research Institute of the Ministry of Public Security, Tsinghua University, Sichuan University, and Tianyi Science and Technology Co., Ltd. in research fields and key technologies or processes, strengthening the cultivation of master's and doctoral students. It has become one of the most important high-tech talent training bases for environmental science and engineering in China, especially in the western region.
