Since the 1980s our school began to carry out theory and Application Study of remote sensing and reach outstanding achievements in atmospheric radiation transmission theory, meteorological disaster remote sensing monitoring. Recent years, with the remote sensing, geographical information system, global positioning system of spatial information technology developments and governments pay more attention to the environment and meteorology,we carried out a large number of relevant research, and gradually formed a stable research team, refine the fixed research direction of atmospheric remote sensing, environmental remote sensing, meteorological and geographical information engineering.Scientific research ability, scientific research level has been greatly improved, research results in the Sichuan Provincial Meteorological Bureau, the Tibet Meteorological Bureau, Sichuan province environmental protection and scientific research institute has been popularized and applied.
(1)Atmospheric remote sensing
Using low resolution optical remote sensing data and microwave remote sensing data as basic data, and atmospheric radiation transmission theory and related mathematical inversion algorithm as the theoretical basis, inverse the atmospheric temperature, humidity, air pressure, wind, clouds, precipitation and aerosol meteorological parameters within the scope of a few kilometers to hundreds of kilometers, and provide effective data for microscale and mesoscale weather system structures and meteorological model parameterization.
(2) Environmental remote sensing
Set human survival environment surface factor as the research object, to special geographical location, rich natural resources and in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River to ecological barrier effect of Sichuan and Qinghai Tibet Plateau as key research areas, with multi-source remote sensing technology, committed to the environmental group and land cover is the information extraction and landscape pattern evolution research, and then discusses the relationship between environment and climate. To achieve through the vegetation, water, snow and other environmental factors on the real-time remote sensing monitoring of droughts, floods, storms and other meteorological disaster remote sensing monitoring and early warning.
(3) Meteorological engineering geographic information system
Geographic information system is a newly developed technology, the development of information analysis technology, play an important role in the construction of meteorological information, disaster prevention and mitigation of meteorological forecasting and warning. This research direction using geographic information system spatial data management, spatial analysis, spatial data visualization technology, with the combination of 3S technology in remote sensing, global positioning to help meteorological data management, weather graphics, climatic zoning, the meteorological disaster early warning and assessment, geological hazard forecasting and early warning, artificial influence on weather and other public meteorological service system application engineering development, 3S system integration.
