At the start of the new semester, laboratory safety work faced a comprehensive inspection as a crucial assessment. On September 8, 2025, President Luo led the person-in-charge of functional departments including the Laboratory Equipment and Management Center, Academic Affairs Office, Science and Technology Office, Logistics Support Office and Security Office to conduct a thorough and meticulous safety inspection for the new semester by visiting the laboratories in the Resources and Environment Building of our college. Li Qu, Secretary of the College Party Committee, Liu Shengyu, Vice Dean in charge of laboratory work, and members of the college's laboratory management team accompanied the inspection throughout the whole process and actively cooperated with all inspection work.

During the inspection, President Luo and his delegation visited a number of teaching and research laboratories successively, including the chemical warehouse, undergraduate basic laboratories, drying room and hazardous waste temporary storage room. At each site, the accompanying staff of our college took the initiative to brief the inspection team on the daily management of the laboratories, the operational status of experimental equipment, as well as the storage and usage norms for hazardous chemicals. The inspection team focused on checking the implementation of thetwo-person and two-lockmanagement system for hazardous chemical storage cabinets, the records of chemical requisition and registration, and the disposal procedures of waste materials. Meanwhile, they also inspected the operation effectiveness of the ventilation systems and the allocation and intactness of emergency protective equipment.

During the inspection, President Luo made detailed inquiries to the laboratory faculty of our college about safety precautions and practical problems encountered in daily experimental operations. For the minor issues identified during the inspection, such as slightly cluttered placement of instruments in some laboratories and improper storage of decommissioned equipment, President Luo put forward specific rectification suggestions on the spot. The responsible persons of our college listened attentively, took detailed notes, and stated that we will strictly conduct rectifications within the specified time in accordance with the requirements.

On behalf of the College, Vice Dean Liu sincerely thanked the university leaders and the functional departments for their inspection and guidance, and reported on a series of measures taken by our college in laboratory safety management in recent years: we have established and improved a sound safety management system covering laboratory access approval, equipment management, chemical use and other aspects; regularly organized teachers and students to carry out safety training and emergency drills to strengthen their safety awareness and emergency response capabilities; and implemented a system of assigning specific laboratory safety responsibilities to individuals, with safety responsibilities refined to each laboratory and every teacher and student.

The College made it clear that we will take this new semester safety inspection as an opportunity torectify the identified problems promptly and thoroughly, further identify and fill gaps in safety management. Moving forward, our college will continue to strengthen the safety awareness of teachers and students, constantly improve the safety management system, and refine safety prevention and control measures. We will earnestly implement laboratory safety work in a down-to-earth manner, ensure the safe and orderly conduct of teaching and research activities in laboratories for the new semester, and build a solid safety defense line to underpin the high-quality development of the College.
