Based on the multidisciplinary including Environment Science discipline and Environment Engineering discipline, the traditional, sustainable and stable research direction, the research achievements, the important impact both in China and abroad, the teaching and research team, and the experimental conditions, the Water Pollution Controlling and Waste Recycling Institute was progressive developed and established.
In recent five years, the institute undertook over 10 projects from Sichuan Provincial Science and Technology Department, Sichuan Provincial Department of Education, the China Environmental Protection Foundation, including New low-power Southern low C/N ratio urban wastewater denitrification process and pilot projects, Preparation of compound bioflocculant by using digestion swine wastewater with high-levels of ammonia and its application, Development of bio-composite flocculant and its Properties in removal of nitrogen and phosphorus, Intensive pig dispersed rural household wastewater treatment and recycling technology, and so on. The fund close to one million RMB yuan.
After some years’ construction and development, in connection with specific research projects, large number of basic researches were done by the researchers of the Water Pollution Controlling and Waste Recycling Institute, and over 50 papers were published on various domestic and international academic journals, including Journal of Chemical Engineering of Chinese Universities, Bioresource Technology, Acta Scientiae Circumstantiae, Environmental Science, Applied Biochemistry and Biotechnology, Journal of Sichuan University(Engineering Science Edition), The Chinese Journal of Nonferrous Metals, and so on, in which over 20 papers were cited by SCI, EI, and ISTP. In addition, apply for more than 20 patents, and compile teaching material, such as "Environmental Engineering Microbiology", "wastewater treatment principle".
Researches in this institute focused on “Development of new biological nitrogen removal technology and processes”, “Development of efficient water treatment agents”, “Treatment of biodegradable organic wastewater by Bioaugmentation processing”, and “Micro emulsion phase extraction technology”. This institute pay attention to the development of new wastewater treatment technology, and the biological nitrogen removal technologies, and livestock waste water and complex organic wastewater treatment technologies were the distinctive features.
